Oskar Schindler
During World War II, there were not many people who were willing to take a stand against their own country to save the Jews from their deaths, but one man was. Oscar Schindler, was a fellow German citizen who rescued 1,300 Jews from being killed or sent to concentration camps to work. Oscar Schindler spent thousands of dollars bribing soldiers to free Jews and send them to his factory, where he built ammunition for the German army. Schindler then started a list ,called Schindler’s List, where Jews that he rescued would tell of other Jews to rescue who were taken or going to be. He would send others to find the Jews and bring them back to his factory where they worked and lived. After the war had ended the Jews were free and only the Jews from that he had rescued or had escaped from the camps had survived. The Jews were forever grateful to Schindler and paid him in return for rescuing them. Oscar Schindler remained burdened by his thought, “I could have gotten one more person and I didn’t.”
